Very fun. The whole time i was thinking... "i'll stop after the next one" but just kept playing.

Can you make a mobile version? It looks fun but i don't have any computer to use

(+1)

very fun! i've won after over an hour total

possibly a bug: i wanted to try playing without the "pierce" passive but when i reset the upgrades, bought every passive but that one and switched to weapon upgrades and upgraded those, the pierce passive also suddenly turned out to be bought and this happened two or three times the same way... though after that i reset and started with buying upgrades and pierce didn't appear against my will. buying a lot of upgrades at once is annoying so i'm not trying this more to figure out if it's actually reproducible...

Thank you!  I'll investigate that - I appreciate it.

"THE SLIMES, THEY'RE FUCKING EVERYWHERE!!" - Zeta, suffering from trying to get muneh (though, seriously, i like this type of indie, keep it up!)

I love this game so much! It was a lot of fun trying to do this without buying the time skips.

One question, though, why Jupiter? I love it, and I want to know what recording this is because I want to listen to this conductor's Mars as well.

Thanks for the great game!

Thank you so much!  Truthfully I wanted something fun and nice to listen to, and didn’t really feel like writing something myself :)

It’s so cute and squishy-looking! It’s beautiful and a wonderful time-killer.

I ont get how the turret ability on the mouse works

It an evolution that shoots projectiles at the nearest enemy from your mouse position

(+2)

Very much enjoyed this game. TY for this nice brain time.

(+1)

Thanks for playing!

(+2)

This game was pretty fun and I like how there's an endless mode after the five minutes was done.

(+1)

It was a very well-balanced game and I enjoyed it.

Thank you!

These slimes don't know what they're in for... *rubs hands evilly*

This looks so fun!  Any chance of a macOS build for download or are we stuck playing on Itch?  Either way, great job! <3

Thank you!  To be honest, I don't think it would be too difficult porting to macOS (he said, foolishly...)  But thank you for the suggestion - I'll definitely investigate it!

Thank you so much!  I checked out your game - it’s pretty cool.  I really like the art style.

Pretty awesome. Kinda reminds me of a different take on Days Bygone.

Thank you!

Okay, so….

To beat:

  • 50:01 playtime
  • 30 runs
  • no time skipping passives
  • only first five towers fully upgraded

Overall:

  • 60::00 playtime flat
  • 32 runs
  • 7:02 max time
  • only beam is not upgraded fully

A little review:

+Very cute and straightforward incremental game, with enough satisfying juice to gaze upon.

+Does not waste your time.

+Good SFX usage.

-a little junk on the balancing scale.

10/10, would prestige at least two times.

(+2)

70:49 time played

39 runs

idk why i did that

Entertaining! :)

But the bounce animation of the bouncy balls weapon while they are still slow is not very satisfying, they doesn't feel like bouncing, more like waving, but that's detail

Yeah, I need to still fix the math on that...thank you, though!

The seeker will almost kill a blob.  I upgraded the damage twice to have it... almost kill a blob.  No extra damage done.

Keep in mind, the enemies get more hp as the round progresses!

(+1)

Anyone has strategies to share on how to beat the game with the shortest time possible? It took me 22runs to just barely survive 2min >.<

And then 35 to finally survive 5min but that had all the upgrades possible, it feels wrong.

I personally go straight for:

money-making passives,

cursor blockade (very strong) (just move mouse everywhere randomly and runes hit everything with no cooldown) (earlygame, keep in mind cursor shoots faster when aiming higher in the screen)

seeker explosive

sword defense

defense shield

rune sine

EMP instakill

thorns, HP-up, impatient passives, Explosive passive

You can skip upgrades for most long-range stuff. (seeker, multishot, bouncer, to name a few)

pierce passive might actually even be bad, it makes seeker explosions activate less quickly (and aoe sooner/closer to tower is better)

You don't really need any of the other things, imho.

Awesome game; just watched Idle Cub's runthrough of it:

I also didn't see it on incrementaldb.com yet, so I got it added there, too:

https://www.incrementaldb.com/game/the-last-spire

Didn’t even know about this - thank you!

(1 edit)

I kinda like it but afaik the other mods found it slightly not incremental. The ui is very good though.. Thanks for posting...

Great game. Responsive dev. 10/10

Funny thing that happened on my first time hitting 5min. My tower fell at 4:57 and I got the game over screen, but the timer still ran for a few seconds and right as it faded to black it came back and said congrats lol

(+4)

fantastic game only option I would like to see is maybe a speed up so that the early game may be sped up even if it was a passive you bought

(+1)

I mean, we do have the impatience passive upgrades now, probably due to your suggestion, they're excellent. I think they cost a little too much, but are otherwise great!

(+1)

man, patch notes says lag is fixed, but I cant progress beyond 4 minutes. Its running at, no exaggeration, about 3 frames per second. The timer runs as slow as the enemies, so I'm wondering if this is different lag than the other comments below.

I'm afraid to refresh as I think I will lose all progress...

(1 edit)

Hmmm, the main cause of the lag was fixed. What type of machine are you on?  Also, is it 3fps in the upgrade screen, as well?  Or just when playing?

just playing. I can send you a video maybe? Chrome on Mac

https://streamable.com/ww29sq

Its not the page either because the example gifs below the game are running just fine.

I'd send a video of the upgrade screen but I cant get to it lol. Since posting my original comment I've only progressed from 2:00 to 2:06. So it's probably more like .5fps lmao ahhh I have so many upgrades :(

(1 edit)

Oh wow, even when the game lagged it didn't lag that bad!  Let me look into it...

If you want to restart the game, it won't load your game again, but there is a cheat you can unlock by pressing:

u d l r a b s

on the menu screen (in the upgrades, the up arrow will give you 10k coins each time you press it)

could be completely my imagination, but it seemed to happen after I bought the impatient progressives to skip the first two minutes

thank you for this. Glad I get to finish the game. Had a bunch of fun with it :)

Thanks for hanging in there!  I'm looking into implementing a save system in the unlikely event this happens to anyone else.

(+1)

alright I got caught back up and no lag this time. Very odd. Thanks again and nice game.

This is a very fun game. There's so much juice in it, it's so engaging. 5/5, 100% done in about an hour.

Thank you so much!

(+1)

Done 5 min

(+1)

good game but i would really like it if you could have the option to die mid round to get back to the upgrades

Super cute game, I loved playing it, even if it was just for a demo! The little upgrades at the end made me smile!

Thank you so much!

Pressing Back in Options menu crashes the game

Ah thank you! (this has just been hotfixed, too!)

Unless i missed something this seems to more or less be the limit for now

(-1)

!! Even I don't know how that's possible...was that pre-patch perhaps?

(-3)

No, I edited it in GIMP

New High Score from Idle Cub:

Love this video!  It’s great watching someone play this in real time (and realize some fixes I need to make!)

(+3)

The ability to end a run early might be a nice feature. I was going for a 1000 coin upgrade, and my run ended with 999, so I had to go through another entire run just to get it.

Weird question. Are there any major inspirations for this game's music? Because I swear to god I hear a bit from YuGiOh: Capsule Monster Coliseum in there.

The music is actually just a recording of "Jupiter" from The Planets by Gustav Holst.

Cool game! I loved the start, but I do feel that when you get further into it you just end up waiting out the first 30-120 seconds of each run because your input is not actually necessary anymore. I feel like there should be some more ways to accelerate your progress

A bug a saw (but didn’t see mentioned yet) is that when I opened the passives tab after a run, the names and descriptions of some passives would overlap until I bought one

Totally agree!  And yes I'm aware of the passives bug - should be fixed in the next update.

(+1)

Several bugs in my first run:

  • as described by others, increasing lag over time
  • I never got to unlock the diamond-shaped weapon, despite having runs way above 2:00 in length
  • Maybe is it because I unlocked the EMP weapon before the diamond-shaped one?
  • I have never seen any animation of the EMP weapon - I am pretty confident it does not work at all despite upgrades
  • Collision issues between the multi-shot and some blobs: either damaging the blob while being away from it, or the contrary not damaging the blob despite being exactly on it
  • The passive tabs has some text display overlapping once you buy the upgrade.

Nice execution overall, it made me want to play it more.

Thank you so much!

That's strange about not unlocking the diamond-shaped weapon, thanks for giving me a heads-up!

(+2)

BUG: if you put the window in the background and come back, the timer kept counting, but no enemies spawnt. easy to survive 5 minutes. unfortunately, I wanted to see the other upgrades in action and was forced back to the main menu. a "keep playing" option would be nice.

aside from that, a neat game

Thank you!  And yeah, I noticed that after I released it - I'll be pushing an update soon.

RUN: 16 Rounds, 1004 kills, 40 mins. Quick feedback below.

  1. Add Coins/Store Reset to get back all coins so I can reset build.
  2. Add Coins Collected into stats. Some upgrades go by that.
  3. Fireback Firerate upgrade should mean two fireballs shoot.
  4. Edit spawn: no spawns behind the timer or upper-midscreen.
  5. Edit cost: prices jump from 50 / 75 to 500 is too jarring/odd.
  6. UI has scroll areas but it's not obvious you can scroll down.
  7. I love that abilities are active right away when you unlock.
(+1)

Really appreciate your feedback!

(1 edit) (+1)

good game, but i have to agree on the lag

That's generally what happens when you make a desktop game and decide to transition to HTML5 15 minutes before launch :)  Next update should hopefully fix these!

(+3)

Cool game! Very polished and great variety of weapons.

Around 40 minutes it started lagging heavily, which didn't clear up between runs so maybe you're not cleaning up something properly?

I completed the 5 minute target early due to the lag since the time seemed to be real time but all the enemies were lagging heavily!

(+1)

Thanks so much!  I'll be looking into the lag - there may be a memory leak somewhere...
